Welcome to the Learners First website. Here you can keep up with what we are up to and find out about our publications – and, we hope, buy them! And you can use our blog section to keep up with what we are up to.
The Learners First philosophy
Our aim has always been to put the needs of individual learners before any other consideration – literally to put learners first. The words ‘learner’ and ‘learning’ have become a new orthodoxy. They are used far more than before, but too often this is just lip-service, re-badging the same old ways of doing things with a new vocabulary.
Learners First – the next chapter
Anna, John and Eddy have been working together as the Learners First partnership for more than 25 years. In the summer of 2014 we made the decision to change the way that we work. Until then, we had worked for an amazing range of clients: Government Departments, ‘blue chip’ companies and not-for-profit outfits. Now we are striking out on our own, producing publications and resources that we think will help take teaching and learning to a new level of quality. We are very excited about this new challenge and about the new projects that we are starting, including:
- A new publication that will take a fresh look at the ideas explored in our influential book Learn for Your Life: A blueprint for continuous learning published by Financial Times/Prentice Hall in 2000.
- A research project into what retirement is like for professionals in today’s changing world of work.
